A print I did for L.A.’s iam8bit gallery show celebrating the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Cowabunga! 30 Years of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles show featured new pieces from artists from the around the world.
In the 1991, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were life. Action figures at Christmas, TV show after school, fighting in the street outside our house with improvised weapons (I was always Donatello), and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Arcade Game on Nintendo Entertainment System. Turtles was one of a handful of games that could be played as a co-op so it was a pretty radical experience.
Working on this project I got a chance to look back at all of the original artwork and it’s amazing how certain levels and characters can really transport you back. Especially the harder bosses! Such nostalgia. It’s only as an adult that the Pizza Hut product placement is so hilariously obvious!
It’s a giclée screen print. Edition of 50, measuring 16″ x 12″.Buy from iam8bit (US) Go To Shop (UK)
